Licensing information

Stadium Finance Limited (FSP211985) (Stadium Finance) holds a licence issued by the Financial Markets Authority (FMA) to provide financial advice. 

 

Nature and scope of advice


Stadium Finance provides advice to clients on consumer credit contracts.

We only provide advice about consumer credit contracts from certain lenders. To see the full list of lenders we work with, click here.

We can provide information, but not advice, on some insurances (credit care insurance, guaranteed asset protection insurance, mechanical breakdown insurance, and comprehensive motor vehicle insurance) from certain insurers, as we will not provide advice on these insurance products, you will need to consult a specialist if you would like advice on these insurance products, you will need to consult a specialist if you would like advice on those products. Fees and expenses


Stadium Finance may charge a broker fee for its services. A broker fee is a fee set by Stadium Finance and is intended to cover our costs associated with facilitating the loan (i.e. preparation of loan documentation and settlement attendances). If a broker fee is payable, it will be added to your loan and the applicable lender will pay that fee to Stadium Finance once the loan is advanced. 

Our lenders may charge other fees and costs for their services. Such fees may include establishment fees and documentation fees. To see the full list of potential fees, click here

Our insurers do not charge fees for their services. 

Whether a fee will be charged and the manner in which it will be charged will be advised by Stadium Finance and/or the lender when the scope of advice is known. 

Conflicts of interest


For insurance, Stadium Finance receives commissions from insurance providers when you purchase one or more of their products through us. If you decide to take up insurance based on the information we give you, the insurer will pay a commission to Stadium Finance. The amount of commission is calculated as a proportion of the insurance premium. 

For consumer credit contracts, Stadium Finance receives either:  

  • incentive payments from financial products we obtain from lenders and provide and give advice on; or
  • commissions from lenders whose financial products we give advice on. 

If you decide to act on our advice and take up the loan, we will receive an incentive payment or a commission (depending on the lender). The amount of the incentive payment or commission is calculated as a proportion of the loan. The incentive payment is set by us. The commission payment is set by the lender. 

As above, for consumer credit contracts, we may charge a broker fee, which the lender will add to your loan and pay to Stadium Finance once the loan is advanced. The amount of the broker fee is $295. This fee is set by us and is intended to cover our costs associated with facilitating the loan (i.e. preparation of loan documentation and settlement attendances). 

To ensure our advisors give priority to clients' interests, we follow an advice process that ensures recommendations are made appropriately, based on the client's goals and circumstances. In particular: 

  • Stadium Finance maintains a Conflict of Interest Policy which is reviewed annually;
  • All advisors undertake training annually on how to manage conflicts of interest; and 
  • Stadium Finance maintains a conflict of interest register of gifts and incentives received. 

 

Complaints handling and disputes resolution


If you are not satisfied with our financial advice service, please get in touch with us as soon as possible, and we will make every effort to resolve your issue promptly and fairly. 

When we receive a complaint: 

  • Where possible, we try to resolve your complaint immediately by considering your complaint and communicating how we intend to resolve it. 
  • In the event that we are unable to resolve your complaint immediately, we will acknowledge your complaint within two business days. 
  • A senior manager will assess your complaint in accordance with the Stadium Finance Internal Complaint Process with the aim of resolving it within ten working days. You may be contacted in order to get further information about your complaint. If further time is needed to investigate your complaint, you will be informed. 
  • We will make contact with you to let you know the outcome of our investigation and whether we can resolve your complaint, and how we propose to do so. 
  • In the event that we cannot agree on how to resolve your complaint, you can contact Stadium Finance's approved disputes resolution scheme, Financial Services Complaints Ltd (FSCL) – A Financial Ombudsman Service. FSCL is our independent external ombudsman and dispute resolution service that has been approved by the Minister of Consumer Affairs under the Financial Service Providers (Registration and Dispute Resolution) Act 2008. FSCL’s service is free of charge to you.

Stadium Finance duties


Stadium Finance, and our financial advisers, have duties under the Financial Markets Conduct Act 2013 relating to the way we give advice. We are bound by law to: 

  • Give priority to your interests by taking all reasonable steps to make sure our advice isn't materially influenced by our own interests; 
  • Exercise care, diligence and skill in providing you with advice; 
  • Meet standards of competence, knowledge and skill set by the Code of Professional Conduct for Financial Advice Services (these are designed to make sure that we have the expertise needed to provide you with advice); and 
  • Meet standards of ethical behaviour, conduct and client care set by the Code of Professional Conduct for Financial Advice Services (these are designed to make sure we treat you as we should, and only give suitable advice).
